What is interest-free credit?
Interest-free credit means you spread the cost of your solar system over a set period without paying any interest on top. Interest-free credit up to £30,000, subject to status. This is available subject to status, which means the lender assesses your affordability before approving the facility. The terms — including the amount, the repayment period and the monthly payment — are confirmed as part of your written quote so you know exactly what you would pay before you sign anything.
Because the credit is interest-free, the total amount you repay is the same as the system price. There is no added interest charge, which makes it easier to compare against paying the full amount upfront.
How does the finance process work?
The process runs alongside the normal quote journey:
- Enquiry — call 0141 230 0198 or fill in the quote form.
- Survey — we arrange a no-obligation survey of your home to measure the roof and assess the system you need.
- Written quote — you receive a quote with the system details, total cost and finance options showing the monthly payment and term.
- Finance application — if you choose finance, the lender carries out an affordability assessment subject to status.
- Decision and installation — once approved, installation is arranged through our MCS-certified partners.
We install through MCS-certified partners. The finance facility is separate from the installation, and you are under no obligation to proceed at any point up to signing the finance agreement.
What does “subject to status” mean?
“Subject to status” means the lender approves the credit based on an assessment of your financial circumstances, including affordability. Not everyone will qualify, and the amount you can borrow may differ from the maximum. The lender’s decision is based on standard affordability checks. If finance is not approved, you can still proceed by paying upfront — the quote and survey are free and without obligation.
Finance vs paying upfront
Paying upfront means you pay the full system cost at installation and own the system outright from day one, with no ongoing monthly payments. Finance lets you spread the cost over time with no interest charge, which helps if you would rather not pay a lump sum in one go. Because the credit is interest-free, the total repayable under finance equals the system price — there is no interest premium for paying monthly.
Your written quote shows both options side by side so you can compare. Some households prefer to pay upfront; others prefer to keep savings intact and pay monthly. There is no single right answer — it depends on your circumstances.
Does VAT affect the financed amount?
0% VAT on solar panels and batteries until 31 March 2027. The 0% VAT rate reduces the total system cost, and since interest-free credit is based on that cost, it reduces the amount you finance too. Your written quote shows the VAT position and the total amount payable clearly.
Is there any obligation?
No. The survey and quote are free and carry no obligation. You receive the written quote with both upfront and finance figures and can take your time to decide. If you choose not to proceed, there is nothing to pay. We install through MCS-certified partners.
