ABOUT US
Who we are — and why that matters for your solar project
Edinburgh Solar Hub is an impartial advisory service, not an installer. We exist for one reason: to give Edinburgh homeowners honest, manufacturer-independent guidance on solar panels, battery storage and heat pumps — then connect them with an MCS-certified installation partner who carries out the work. We focus exclusively on Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Impartial advice, not sales
Scottish Energy Efficiency is a trading name of Scot Energy Efficiency Ltd, registered in England and Wales (company number 17408629). Registered office: 66 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NA.
Edinburgh Solar Hub is a brand of Scottish Energy Efficiency. Our office is at Unit 3 Prospect III, Prospect Business Centre, Dundee DD2 1TY, and our advisory reach covers every EH postcode across Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Our advisory team works for you, not for manufacturers. We are not tied to any single panel brand, inverter supplier or battery manufacturer. That independence means the system we recommend is the one that suits your roof, your consumption pattern and your budget — not the one that earns us the biggest margin.
Important distinction:
- Scottish Energy Efficiency / Edinburgh Solar Hub is NOT MCS-certified. We are an advisory and introducer service.
- Scottish Energy Efficiency / Edinburgh Solar Hub does not hold installer accreditations itself. We do not carry out installations ourselves.
- We install through MCS-certified partners.
This structure keeps our advice independent: we assess your property, model illustrative energy output with Edinburgh-specific yield data (894 kWh per kWp), and present options — then hand you over to an installation partner we trust to deliver.
Our installation partners
We install through MCS-certified partners. Your installation partner carries out the survey and installation work and holds the relevant certifications in their own right.
Warranty and guarantee terms are confirmed in writing on your quotation.
An MCS-certified installation means you can apply for Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) payments for surplus electricity you export to the grid, with rates set by each supplier.
Why this model works for Edinburgh homeowners
The solar industry can be confusing. Homeowners are often contacted by salespeople who work on commission for a single installer, quoting inflated savings and pushing oversized systems. We built Scottish Energy Efficiency to solve that problem by separating the advice from the installation.
When you contact Edinburgh Solar Hub, you speak to an advisor — not a salesperson. We take the time to understand your property, your energy usage and your goals. We model illustrative energy figures using Edinburgh-specific data: 894 kWh annual yield per kWp, with SP Energy Networks (SPEN) as your distribution network operator. Only then do we connect you with our MCS-certified installation partner for a no-obligation home survey.
Our role is connecting Edinburgh homeowners with MCS-certified installers. We do not claim installation counts, and we never pressure you into a decision. If solar is not right for your property, we will tell you.
A real team, a real office
Scottish Energy Efficiency has an office at Unit 3 Prospect III, Prospect Business Centre, Dundee DD2 1TY. Our advisory team is available Monday to Friday 9 am–5 pm and Saturday 10 am–2 pm.
Every enquiry from Edinburgh Solar Hub is handled personally. You will not be passed to a call centre or sold to a lead-generation company. Your details stay with us and our MCS-certified installation partner — no one else. Read our privacy policy for full details.
We believe in transparency. You can check any installer's certification on the MCS Certified database. Our own company details are publicly available on Companies House.
